3.3 Settings

The Settings window is accessed by clicking Settings in the Main Menu or the Gear Icon in the top right of the Arrangement Timeline, or using keyboard shortcut Cmd/Ctrl+,. It is divided into Application Settings and Project Settings.

Application Settings

  • Buffer Size: Adjusts the audio buffer. Lower values reduce latency but increase CPU load; higher values reduce CPU load but increase latency. The resulting latency is displayed in milliseconds below the slider.
  • Input for Audio Recording: Selects the audio input source used for live recording, such as a microphone or audio interface.
  • Recording Latency Compensation: Corrects the timing offset caused by audio hardware to keep recordings in sync with the project. The current offset is displayed in milliseconds below the slider. Click Calibrate to measure and apply the correct value automatically. The value can also be adjusted manually using the slider.
  • Custom Search Path for VST Plugins: Amped Studio detects VST plugins installed in standard system locations automatically. Use this field only if your plugins are stored in a non-standard folder. Paste the folder path and click Apply.

Project Settings

  • Metronome Volume: Adjusts the loudness of the click track. The current level is displayed in decibels below the slider.
  • Device Delay Compensation: Compensates for processing delays introduced by loaded instruments and effects, keeping all tracks in sync during playback regardless of how many devices are in the chain.
