Clips

Clips are the building blocks of a project in Amped Studio. Every piece of audio or MIDI data on the Arrangement Timeline is a Clip. Clips come in two types based on the content they hold: Audio Clips and MIDI Clips.

  • Audio Clips contain recorded or imported audio data. An audio file dragged from the Sound Library or imported from your computer onto the Arrangement Timeline becomes an Audio Clip. Audio can also be recorded directly onto an Audio track, which creates a new Audio Clip on the timeline.
  • MIDI Clips contain note data that is played back by the virtual instrument loaded on the track. A MIDI file dragged from the Sound Library or imported from your computer onto the Arrangement Timeline becomes a MIDI Clip. Double-clicking an empty area on an Instrument track also creates a blank MIDI Clip that can be filled with notes using the Note Editor.

Both Audio Clips and MIDI Clips can also be saved as a Smart Clip, preserving its note or audio content together with the instrument and effect settings of the track it was on.
