5.17 Compressor

Compressor reduces the volume of the loudest peaks in your audio, making the overall performance sound smoother and more controlled.

  • Pre Gain: Adjusts the volume of the audio signal coming into the device.
  • Threshold: The volume limit. The compressor only engages when the audio gets louder than this setting.
  • Ratio: Dictates how strongly the volume is turned down once it crosses the Threshold.
  • Attack: Sets how fast the compressor reacts and turns the volume down.
  • Release: Sets how fast the compressor lets go and returns the volume to normal.
  • Knee: Determines if the volume reduction kicks in gently (Soft Knee) or abruptly (Hard Knee).
  • Lookahead: Allows the compressor to read the audio slightly in advance to catch sudden peaks instantly.
  • Peak / RMS: Changes how the compressor "listens." Peak reacts to sudden, sharp volume spikes, while RMS reacts to the overall average volume level, resulting in smoother, more musical compression.
